Tips to Improve your Website’s Rank on Google

As consumer behavior continues to change, improving your online presence has become more important than ever.

We have all seen it as consumers.  We can no longer go into stores, so we make purchases online.  We are spending more time at home, so we spend more time on our screens.  As a consumer, you have recognized the importance of online access to and communication with a brand.  As a business owner, however, have you considered just how much this means for your company and the opportunities which lie ahead?  If you have not yet increased your focus on your online presence and your SEO efforts, now is an excellent time to do so.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of ensuring that your company’s website and name are put higher on the list of a search engine.  In other words, when your potential customers Google a service, your company’s website is one of the first that they see.  SEO is a great low-cost way in which to bring in new customers and drive traffic to your website.  So how can you get started with improving your company’s SEO efforts?  Here are a few tips you can follow.

1.Build a professional mobile-friendly business website.

Ensure that your website is easy to use and looks professional.  This is a great place to begin and if you do not focus enough on this step, consumers will leave your site soon after they arrive.  If consumers are not interested in staying on your website, your SEO score will be impacted.  Your website should load quickly, should be mobile friendly, and be well-branded and include your logo.

2.Identify profitable keywords.

Targeted words are crucial when it comes to SEO.  Be sure to use words that are associated with your industry and are also likely to drive traffic.  For example, when a person searches “ice cream” on Google, they want to know about ice cream, which means it has informational intent. But when a person searches for “best chocolate ice cream near me,” the person wants to eat ice cream. This will be a profitable keyword for you to target.

3.Create a separate page for each product or service you offer.

Rather than listing all of your products or services on one page, create a separate page for each.  This will allow you to use multiple keywords and improve your ranking.  So if you have a clothing store, create a different page for shirts, pants, shoes, and then break everything down further into subcategories to improve your rankings even more.  The more often you can have a keyword mentioned on your site the better.

4.Optimize your website for questions.

As voice recognition and searches with tools such as Alexa become more popular, the more important it is becoming that your site includes questions and answers to them.  So when your potential consumer asks their Alexa ‘how to get started in searching for a home’, your website is ready with an answer to that question and Google will recognize this search.

5.Keep business information up to date.

Make sure that all Google results about your business are accurate and up to date.  Check this regularly to help your ranking on Google.  Keep everything updated with the latest details, including working hours, images, phone numbers, email, etc. Users will be able to get to know more about your business and can contact you and buy from you.

As we can see, online presence is extremely important now and it will continue to be well into the future.  Focusing on your SEO efforts now will pay off and bring in more business for your company.
